The listening center is one of my students' most treasured classroom area to play and work during free choice time. My students absolutely love listening to their favorite songs and singing along. Their foundation of literacy is strengthened through listening to familiar and beloved stories. Through music and books in the listening center, children are building literacy skills, social emotional skills, and friendship skills. These activities allow children to make a connection with each other based on similar interests. Books and CDs listened to in the listening center can also open children up to a whole new world of interests they didn't even know they had!
