This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you remember getting ready to go to school for the very first time? Do you remember how excited you were to go shopping for the suggested items on the list?

Many of my students are energetic, ambitious little people who are eager to learn.

Their socioeconomic status should not be the determining factor as to whether they get the best education their teacher has to offer. The school sits in the middle of a poor neighborhood where the entire student population receives free lunch. Asking for anything outside of paper and pencils is a financial stretch for many of the families in the area. However, the student's drive to learn is unmatched by any I've ever seen.

My Project

The items that I am requesting are storage pockets for the backs of the student's seats. They provide the student's an area to keep all of their workbooks,writing utensils, and other personal items. Being that we don't have desks or cubbies, these storage pouches would keep everything the kids need at their seat when need it. Your donation will allow us to not only stay organized in our classroom and eliminate clutter, but it will also provide a sense of ownership and responsibility for the students. It will give them a chance to manage their own work materials and have something to keep all of their supplies in which will reduce disruptions in the learning environment.

Not only will your donation help out the students for this year but it will be an ongoing investment in the learning environment for years to come.
