This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our scholars come to school, every day, excited to learn and grow as learners. They come from diverse backgrounds and work together to better themselves and our school community. Our scholars are eager and ready to learn about the world they live in and want to contribute to it now! Many of our students come from homes where their first language is usually a dialect. For this reason, most of my students lack oral language skills, making it one of our primary goal to expand their reading and writing skills.
Even though they face many challenges and fears, my students are very eager to learn and come to school with a happy smile.
My Project
Have you ever walked into a 6 or 7 year old's room? What does it look like? Now imagine sharing a room with 26, 6 and 7 year olds!
We need these cubbies to help store our manipulatives, supplies, and center activities so students can access learning materials quickly and efficiently to increase time learning, and decrease time searching for supplies!
Storage in our classroom is very limited and the storage units we have are big, bulky, and too tall for 1st graders. This storage unit is the perfect height for 1st graders, they won't tip like the shelves we have now, and will provide us space to store all of our math supplies in one space which is a luxury for teachers and students!
