Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember as a child when you were bothered by another kid? Did anybody do anything about it? Such situations are becoming more common in school settings. Some of my students are experiencing some type of bullying on the playground and don't know what to do, how to react, or who to talk to.

I have 22 students that come from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

They posses an inquisitive mind with the eagerness to learn and expand their academic potential. They are very respectful towards one another. Some of my students attend after school enriching programs or tutoring services on a regular basis. However, limited parental involvement is prevalent in our school. Our school, located in California is an amazing school that is always promoting student achievement. On a regular basis students are honored with awards, trophies, ribbons and are recognized with the Honor Roll Mention assemblies. They are not only motivated in academics but are also empowered by the Words of Wisdom. This is done by our principal on a daily basis to give students advice on how to become better citizens by making smart choices.

My Project

My students need 1 In a Jar Bully Free Zone, 3 Bullies Victims & Bystanders games, 1 Bullies are a Pain in the Brain Book, 1 No Kidding about Bullying Book w/CD, I Pocket Chart Think About It, and 1 Cybersafe Teach Game. I want to teach my students strategies on how to approach a bullying situation. Along with that I want them to be able to stop, think, and react when facing such situations. I will accomplish this by continuing to build positive relationships in the class and internalizing healthy character traits among students. Also I will teach them strategies that empower them to react to any bullying situation. Furthermore, I will work on character formation by reinforcing the value of workmanship, self-control, relationship, and empathy. Lastly, I want my students to learn how to react assertively when dealing with a bullying situation.

This project will benefit and equip my students to be in control of themselves and know how to react accordingly to any bullying situation.

I also want to instill in my students the moral obligation to stop and intervene when someone is being victimized by a bully. Ultimately I expect my students to gain more knowledge about bullying and become responsible citizens on and off campus for the rest of their lives.
