My students need active classroom seating that allows them to focus more on sitting quietly and less of what others think about them when they do.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are primarily at-risk kids at risk of not making it to high school. Partially because they do not have the mindset to grasp the importance of education. Additionally, most of them live with family situations where chaos is normal and quiet is boring.
Kids who sit quietly and pay attention are seen almost as traitors to their culture.
An active seating classroom allows everyone to have fun in the learning environment and focus on more than what other kids think of them.
As for our school, we are a Title l school desperately trying to make a difference through blended learning. Our teachers know that lecturing from a podium at the front of the class does not motivate our students to learn. We must change the way the instruction is received just as much as we change the way instruction is delivered.
My Project
An active classroom makes kids want to be quiet if that means they get to sit in a fun chair. The ball chairs will be reserved for students who make commitments to pay attention. In addition, the bouncy bands will give even more students the ability to focus while providing a more positive way to work through pent-up energy. These supplies will help them focus, hear instruction, give positive incentives to behave and make them want to be inside my classroom. Motivation is key to a student's success. When they are motivated to learn, they realize how much they can accomplish.
