My Students

Students at South Mesa Elementary are REMARKABLE! My 5th grade students have really stepped up and risen to the top these past two years. They were in 3rd grade when Covid hit and they spent the rest of the year virtually learning important skills like multiplication and reading comprehension skills.

My students spent the following year isolated in classrooms, wearing masks.

They prospered despite all of these challenges. These same students are now in 5th grade and they are thriving! They are kind, confident, supportive and happy. They are learners that think deeply and come each day desirous to do what is right. We have a saying in our class, "Everything is figure-out-able." We have learned together that success comes when you dig in and work hard even when the odds seem stacked against you. They are so deserving of this grant.

My Project

The iPads I am requesting will be used for small group science and technology projects. I have purchased licenses for iPad APPS such as stop motion animation. I need iPads for each small group to use for exciting STEM projects to extend our science learning. For example, we are learning about landforms. Students will choose a landform such as a Peninsula. Students will work with a small group to create a stop motion video showing the formation and how erosion effects the landform. IPads will be used to take pictures and use purchased apps to create these exciting projects. Students will be able to collaborate, create, and present using the iPad.

These (5) iPads will be instrumental in helping students collaborate, create, and present exciting stop motion videos.

I will be able to buy additional APP licenses to help students create and extend their learning through technology based STEM Projects.

I am committed to guide and teach students through technology and know it is difficult to do this without the proper resources. The possibilities are endless if I can get these iPads!
