My Students

My students are from very diverse backgrounds, but all love to be creative and innovative. Some use technology in their homes every day, but many don't have the opportunity until they get to school.

Our area reaches from the affluent to the poverty stricken, but they are all eager to learn.

I want them all to have an equal chance to succeed in the 21st century regardless of their family life or financial status. Every student in the school participates in a grade level appropriate stop motion animation project from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

My Project

Paper and tape may not seem like animation materials, but my students know how to make simple media come alive. We have been animating for a few years, so by the time a Kindergartener becomes a fifth grade student they can really tell a story!

I want my students to have plenty of good quality materials to achieve their animation goals.

Many have learned how to transform a cut-out paper drawing into a character who actually moves with the help of our iPads and the Stop Motion Studio app.

The tape is simply to hold their gorgeous, hand drawn backgrounds down while they move their characters bit by bit while taking pictures.
