My Students

My second graders are sweet, compassionate, and eager learners. They are so excited to be back in school and have such a drive to learn, both in-person through the use of technology. Help me give these kids a school year to remember.

My Project

Second grade is a very crucial year. Students are still learning how to read, building their reading stamina, and transitioning into chapter books. They have such a passion and excitement for reading. Independent reading time is our favorite time of day. R. L. 2.10 allows them to read and comprehend literature. We were fortunate enough to receive a variety of books through our district. Our classroom struggle is storing them. I'm asking for book bins for my room so that I can organize my library into fiction and nonfiction. Also, I'm asking for a subscription to Scholastic News. It's important for my students to understand current events and embrace diversity. SS.2.16 explains how diverse individuals have played important roles in developing the nation's identity. Weekly Scholastic materials will also build reading fluency, comprehension and strength how to read informational text.
