My Students
I am the K-2 Title I reading teacher in a low income southwest Missouri school district. I work with approximately 30 students, either individually or in small groups.
I love working with the youngest struggling readers who usually still have the "love of learning".
Their potential for learning can only go up if I can help them see the relevance of how learning to read is a vital life-long skill.
I do a variety of reading assessments to help guide my instruction and also collaborate with the classroom teachers. I strive to use many multi-sensory strategies to address my students' many learning needs.
My Project
Every year the second grade classroom performs the play the Stone Soup. I work with the second grade teachers and we read several versions of stone soup. We also do a readers theater that we dramatize with costumes and props.
In the folktale the three monks play music during the feast with the villagers and these handbells will be a great addition to our performance with the kids playing the bells.
The two wireless microphones will allow my students to be heard in the gym where we perform the play. The children move around so the two microphones will make the performance go smoother.
