My Project

This project may seem simple, but it is absolutely essential! Working at a school with a high population of low income families has taught me that the basic school supplies aren't always easy to access. Families aren't always able to send their children to school with pencils, scissors, erasers, and paper, so keeping a classroom stocked allows me to provide equal access to the basic classroom supplies to all of my students.

Basic classroom supplies are so important to give my students engaging and effective learning activities.

I have many tried and true activities that rely on some of these supplies. Clipboards allow me to bring my students outside to learn about Ecology in our school's backyard. Graphing paper is essential for math, modeling, and graphing. Scissors, glue sticks, and colored paper allows my students to learn in unique and creative ways and helps support Project Based Learning. Laminating sheets allow me to make materials for games and activities that can be reused for years to come. The clear rulers are uniquely important for science experiments because they are flexible, can be washed, and can be used to measure plants, objects under the microscope, and more! Chalk markers can be used on our black lab tables to make diagrams with groups or label experiments easily.

There are more items on my list that I have listed here, but these are just a few examples of how I use these tools. Unfortunately many of these items have a limited life span and need replenishing. It is my hope that these supplies will help me restock my classroom for my next few rounds of students.
