Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in South Austin where the community is diverse, the tacos are plentiful, and we definitely know how to keep Austin weird. Although rich in culture and community, the majority of my students come from low-income households and because of this my students face multiple challenges both within and beyond the classroom.

Fifth grade is a special time when kids start to gain more independence, autonomy, and start becoming their own educational advocates.

For my students to achieve success in the classroom and in their futures they need support from those around them and from people like you. My students are eager learners, change makers, and ready to take on this year of learning! Help me create a learning environment that empowers my students with the tools to turbocharge their learning.

My Project

We are asking for some of the high demand items from students throughout the year to take home over the summer so they are healthy and have what they need all year round.

Hygiene items and nonperishable healthy snacks can be sent home for the students to have access to as needed for the summer months.

Anything not used for the summer will be available to our students for the coming fall. Hygiene items include toothbrushes, toothpaste, chapstick, hair brushes, lice kits, and small bottles of lotion. The snacks include healthy items that don't need to be refrigerated and can last for the summer.
