My Project

Teachers do so much more than what happens during the school day. They work behind the scenes to build relationships, solve problems, encourage students, and reach the students who can sometimes be the hardest to reach. They teach, redirect, listen, comfort, motivate, celebrate small victories, and keep showing up—even on the days when getting up and getting going is hard.

Behind every successful student is a teacher who has stayed a little later, made one more phone call, found a different way to explain a difficult concept, encouraged a student who was ready to give up, or quietly stepped in when a child needed someone to believe in them.

We would like to Stock the Staff Room as a small way to recognize and appreciate the people who pour so much into our students.

Our teachers have a favorites list of snacks and drinks, including options that take allergies and dietary needs into consideration. With support from donors, we will use that list to keep our staff room stocked with a variety of grab-and-go snacks, treats, and coffee supplies.

We will create a few intentional moments of surprise and encouragement throughout the school year—especially when our teachers may need an extra boost.

A cup of tea or coffee and a little sustenance can go a surprisingly long way. But this project is about more than snacks and caffeine. It says: We see you. We appreciate you. What you do matters.

There is also a little science behind the surprise. The brain responds positively to novelty, and an unexpected treat or change in routine can provide a small boost in attention, mood, and energy. We want to use that power of surprise to create moments of joy for the adults who spend their days creating those moments for students.
