it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is an part of an ongoing project. I work at an alternative school. The thing I love the most about my students is the diversity. I teach students who are at different levels. Some can be on a second-grade reading level while others can read a book a day. They are all very unique and incredibly funny. There is never a quiet day and they always give me a reason to smile every day. They have a desire to learn and enjoy reading, but we do not have a library. I hope to give them that.
Our school does not have a library.
I seek to collect enough books to do help build a library for my students. Four years ago we moved from our small building to a larger school, and we are trying to give our students all the things they did not have at their last school: cafeteria, basketball court, sports, a library, etc. English is vital for any child’s future. Simply by reading literature kids are able to receive and maintain the necessary ELA skills alongside the curriculum. Being able to provide our students with literature from all backgrounds will help us to prepare our students for the road ahead. This project focuses on adding works of classic literature to our library.
