My Project

I am a third grade teacher in a title 1 public school in Louisville Kentucky. I have a highly populated ECE and ESL class. These students benefit most from visuals and modeling. My students learn more than just academics in my classroom. We become a classroom family and work to help each other achieve goals throughout the year.

Students need modeling, examples, and a place to share strategies with classmates using colorful visuals that can be seen throughout the room.

When creating my classroom environment, my students learn quickly that their thoughts, opinions, differences and prior knowledge matter. They become leaders and confident in sharing work with classmates. While sharing examples and strategies, we like to use anchor charts. Our district has decided that the white post-it chart paper is too expensive so they will only purchase the yellow paper. The yellow paper is not beneficial for my visual learners. We like to use color to help with memory muscle and draw attention to important words/information.

The rolling teacher easel will make the charts easily visible for students throughout the room. It can be moved for students and teachers to use around the room as opposed to the stationary chalkboard on the wall that has blind spots for some students sitting in the room. The sticky post-it chart paper can be easily hung on the easel and the paper can be torn off and displayed around the room for future reference by just sticking it to the wall.

My classroom is inclusive, accepting, and welcoming to all. My students take ownership of their learning and work hard each day to meet their weekly goals. Please consider donating to helping us continue growing and learning from each other.
