My Students

My students are hard workers. They have a desire to look and sound great, to challenge themselves, and improve. They don't come from wealthy, "have-it-all" families, but have a strong desire to be a superior level band.

The kids have had a "revolving door" of directors, of which I am the fifth in the span of six years.

The kids have taken ownership of the group, and have built a sense of pride in their success. They are working hard to achieve excellence.

My Project

We have many percussion students at our school. Several do not have the resources at home for quality practice opportunities.

These resources will allow more students the opportunity to practice at home.

Every student needs great tools at school and at home to succeed as a musician.

Many students come to school with low-quality sticks that make it harder to play well. The techniques they are learning require high-quality tools that are appropriate for their development level.

Most of these students don't have access to a practice pad at home and will find random things to practice on, such as a pillow or the heel of their shoes. The practice pads in this project will help students feel more pride in having quality equipment.
