My Students

I am a speech language pathologist working in an elementary school. My students range in age from 3-6 years of age. Some of my students language development Is delayed and others have articulation difficulties that make their speech difficult to understand.

Early intervention gives my students the tools to be effective communicators in the classroom and in life!

As my students become more effective communicators their self confidence increases as well as their circle of friends. Seeing their proud, smiling faces as their speech and language skills improve is the ultimate reward!

My Project

My language delayed students will use pictures to exchange as words while learning to speak. These students' ability to understand and communicate for exceeds their ability to use spoken words. Pictures allow these students to express themselves while learning to speak.

Pictures are literally worth a thousand words for these students!

Velcro will be used to secure communication pictures in communication books for these language delayed students.

This helps to organize the pictures and makes it easier for the students to access their "words" more quickly.

These organized pictures give the children power to communicate and have more control over their environment. The organized pictures also increase language development and increase spoken words.
