Sticker Fridays & Sustainable Sips: Welcoming Our New Aquaculture Crew!

Help me give my students Aluminum water bottles and a variety of fun stickers to keep our new aquaculture students hydrated, engaged, and excited to join our eco-friendly tradition.

My Project

Our aquaculture labs are hot, humid, and often outdoors—between the greenhouse, the tanks, and the fieldwork, staying hydrated is a daily necessity. Last year, our second-year students each received aluminum water bottles, and they’ve loved using them as a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic. Now, we’re welcoming a brand-new group of first-year students, and we want them to feel just as included, prepared, and proud.

Each Friday, we celebrate Sticker Friday—a beloved tradition where students pick a fun sticker to personalize their water bottles.

It’s silly, simple, and shockingly powerful. The students look forward to it every week and have even said it helps them feel like part of something special. These moments build classroom community, reward consistency, and bring joy to their hard work in aquaculture.

This project helps keep our class eco-conscious while strengthening community and motivation. Aluminum bottles are reusable, durable, and perfect for life in the lab or greenhouse. Stickers add a creative, personal touch that turns sustainability into something fun and memorable. This small project ensures equity—so every new student starts off with the same tools, pride, and excitement as those before them.
