My Students

I teach 2nd graders in a small community Title one school. Which means more than 50% are from low income families. There are many things I love about my 2nd graders.

They are enthusiastic and excited about learning especially hands-on learning.

They are curious about everything and love to ask questions. They feel safe in exploring and come up with all kinds of ideas to research and solve a problem. They stretch their independence by working cooperatively in small groups with the teacher or peers.

My Project

My students need a large magnetic whiteboard to replace the out dated chalkboard in our classroom. This will allow the students to use the hands-on magnetic materials in math, reading, and language such as: place value blocks, magnetic letters to practice words, or interactive science kits and other center activities efficiently.

If my students have this magnetic whiteboard they will be able to manipulate a chosen skill demonstrating their understanding while cooperating with peers during workstations.

Chalkboards are very messy and are a problem for students that suffer from allergies, breathing issues, or texture sensitivity.

A Magnetic whiteboard is not only essential in workstations but is a great way for students and teachers to work together. My students have their own individual whiteboards to work on and follow along while I am working on the class whiteboard. I feel the magnetic whiteboard is a beneficial and important classroom tool that should not be missing from any school room.
