Step Up the Stamina..... Beginning Chapter Books

Help me give my students 2 sets of early chapter books for kids who are beginning to build more reading stamina.

My Students

My kids love to explore our world, but many have never left our town. They are eager to learn. Some are ESL kids, and their struggle is 2 fold. They are trying to learn content at the same time as a new language. Some have hard home lives. They try to get noticed by using undesirable behaviors, but one on one, they melt my heart. They want to be accepted for who they are and reach out to others. They have such potential but often feel stuck in a world that overlooks them.

My Project

My students need some inspiration. Especially my first and second graders. Our kids are struggling. Reading scores are dropping.

Covid has created such a deficit for our kids and the beginning readers have been the hardest hit.

These books will be a great stepping stone to help my kids transition into chapter books. By this time in the school year, my 1st and 2nd graders are usually moving on to longer books, but our world has changed. These two series are great examples of the types of books kids can read to help build stamina. And since they will be used in an elementary library, many students can benefit from them, both at school and home. These stories have chapters, but colorful pictures. Kids like them.
