Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the greatest group of Kindergarteners around! Kindergartener is such a special year as my students are gaining independence and taking on more and more challenging tasks to improve their skills! The community I teach in is a lower income area. My school is a Title I school, and most of my students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. Through all of our differences and walks of life, my classroom is a place of community and together we have become a family!
My Project
The books that I have selected are to help refill my book baskets for student tables. I use these baskets for independent reading time. The titles I've selected are of much interest to the kindergarten students in my class. These texts are leveled to help readers choose a just right book. I find my students prefer the books because they are fun and relatable. These books will lend themselves well to my students being able to fill out a story map. They will be able tell about the characters, setting, beginning, middle and ending of the book they choose to read.
