Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars are wonderful children growing up in a very diverse community. Located in the heart of the East Bay, they are encouraged and challenged to voice their opinion and stand for what they believe is right. Many of our students are actually transfers from Oakland.
They are eager to learn science and help out their community in any way that they can.
With technology becoming more prevalent in our classrooms, our students and our teachers need to be up-to-date. My scholars are so hardworking and make good decisions every day. However, anyone who is involved with the educational system knows that a huge effort goes to motivating our students. As I grow professionally, I am always looking for ways to improve and inspire my scholars.
My Project
Being students in the Bay Area, we are surrounded by technology coming from the Silicon Valley and San Francisco. I would like to provide an opportunity for my students to get experiences with working with basic hardware tools to learning how to code in Python.
My students need to have real hands-on opportunities to prepare themselves for this fast paced technology driven society.
In this project, I would like Raspberry Pis, plywood, batteries, and wires. The plywood is going to be used to have the students build their own car base through the laser cutter, this would teach my students how to make mock up blue prints and actually cut the shape of their cars. The Raspberry Pis and wires will teach them electric circuits and coding.
I am confident that this project would expose my students to coding and hardware that they will utilize in the near future.
