StemTastic Learning in Kindergarten!

Help me give my students Lincoln Logs, Picasso 3D Bristle Builders, and Interlocking Disc Builders for STEM time!

My Students

The students at my school are from a rural farm community. We have a small school at the edge of a large corporation. Our students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We are lucky to have great families that work hard and are involved in our school events, but we don't get a lot of extra funding from the state. This is due to our school not qualifying as a Title I school. Title I schools have a higher level of free and reduced-price lunches than we currently have.

My sweet kiddos are hard workers, but they have lots of extra energy and thrive during hands-on activities.

We try to keep moving around our classroom several times throughout the day to help with this. I also have tried to incorporate a flexible seating environment to keep their little bodies wiggling, while engaged in learning, while at our seats. We have had a lot of success when we use hands-on manipulatives and activities.

I love to provide learning opportunities that will get my students moving, thinking, and stimulating their learning by creating.

My Project

My young students are so creative and love to learn! All of these amazing STEM activities will keep my students busy using their minds and their hands! I found an old partial set of Lincoln Logs up in a closet and the kids have loved building with them! However, due to COVID19 I need a few more sets so that more of the kids can build with them during STEM time. The interlocking disc builders will be fun for them to create different designs at their various skill set. But, I am most excited about the 3D Bristle Builders. I created with these as a kid myself and know my students will have fun engineering cars, trains, helicopters, houses and so much more!

My kindergarten kiddos do their best learning while their little bodies are engaged in hands-on activities!

All of these new STEM activities will allow them to do just that. They will be engaged while their little hands are moving. My hope is that they will be having so much fun they won't even realize they are learning! I am so excited to get busy learning with new STEM activities in kindergarten! We are returned back to in school learning, but these items could also be checked out by families to use at home, if we are sent home again. Either way they will be an asset to our classroom!
