This year is my 21st year in education. It is a blessing to spend my days at this beautiful community school in the spectacular mountains of Western North Carolina. My drive to work is full of beautiful landscapes. My school is kindergarten through fifth grade, with fewer than 150 students.
We may be small, but our dreams are big.
The community is deeply invested in the education and nurturing of each student. Economic status does not provide a barrier to learning; instead, it provides a challenge this school accepts on a daily basis. With your help, we can give these deserving students everything they need!
I am requesting $100 in credits to purchase books so my students can have books to read and keep at home. I remember bringing home the book order flyers when I was a little girl. Our students love books and love to read but the joy of bringing home the book flyer isn't quite the same. Our students would love STEM related books at home but economic situations have put essentials on the priority list. I hope to continue the joy of new books at home through this project. I will purchase a large variety of genres and reading levels with the requested $100 in credits to purchase books. Students will get to choose from these books to read and enjoy at home.
