My school is a low income school, with 100% free lunch. I have a very diverse group of students with a wide range of strengths and weaknesses.
Within our school we have a strong sense of community.
Our school as a whole has a very diverse groups of readers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians. We have students of all levels. My particular classroom is the same way. My students learn best through hands on manipulatives and learning from experience. They are an engaged group of learners and work hard to achieve their full potential.
My Project
I will create a STEM lab for my students to use as stations and for spare time in the classroom. The students will enjoy working with their hands to create a new product. They will use their geometry skills to create an image of what their creation will look like. They will use their reading skills to read about and write directions on how to build their creation. The students will build their teamwork skills to work together as well as create their own creations independently. I plan to use this area at least once a day to give the students the opportunity to think outside of the box. This project will provide STEM projects, STEM kits, STEM stories, magna-tiles, gear builders, and many more. These things will help children meet science standards while using these resources along with a variety of ways to support other areas in the classroom.
