Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. More than half of my students come from low-income households.
One-fourth of my class is made up of students who receive special education services.
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school every day eager to learn. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. A goal of mine is to provide my students with a safe and exciting classroom.
My Project
As a part of my classroom routines, my students come in unpack, check in with the mood meter, and begin their day with morning tubs. Morning tubs are hands on activities that allow students to ease into their day. Our class is in need of new materials for our morning tubs.
Students will be able to use the magnetic tiles, the play-doh, puzzles to learn to work together, think abstractly, and start their day on the right foot!
Students choose the activity they participate in each morning. This allows students to have choice and to be more engaged ! Students will be able to use the headphones on our class iPads to stay focus while reading!
