STEM! Science Technology Engineering and Math! This is the place of future employment. My students need to be prepared to work in these environments. Strong dedication to state standards, critical thinking, and use of technology along with scientific tools are the goal in my classroom! They deserve the very best.
Sending my students into the future will help them break the cycle of low income in our district.
Our students are predominantly from low income families which makes it so important to me that they are highly qualified to enter into high school and ultimately into higher education. Knowledge is progress, and that is what my students deserve.
My Project
As a scientist myself, I will be better able to increase my students' awareness of the STEM employment opportunities available to them by teaching them how to properly use microscopes while completing the State Department of Education standards for their grade.
I have the microscopes, but I need the set of slides to use to teach them the life science skills they need, while giving them hands on access to scientific tools.
Students need to understand that cells combine to form tissues and tissues combine to form organs and that they work together in the human body to function properly. We will be able to see real cells on the slides, under our microscopes, while we are learning the skill of using a microscope properly.
They can use the headphones that are not affordable for their families, to research using technology in the classroom.
