This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each child loves learning. Their curiosity is truly awe-inspiring. One of my goals as a STEM educator is to channel their curiosity using 21st century tools to become better problem solvers, critical thinkers, and technological innovators for the future. I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

After surveying students about what they wanted to do the most in STEM class, the resounding answer was robots!

In STEM, students get the opportunity to explore science in a hands-on, engaging way appropriate for our ever-technologically-advancing world. Though we could spend day in and day out researching robots and their history, it would be far more fun to expose our students to not just robots they can interact with, but robots they can build and program themselves. My hope is that this robot exemplar built in class will help stoke students desire to join a new robotics club after school.

With an increasing demand for technology around the world, we aim to provide our students the foundations needed to compete and succeed in the future.

This project includes a build a robot and circuit board. It also includes dry erase markers, lamination, pouches, and game boards to create new and engaging math centers. Lastly, it includes recordable buttons to aide in student independence as directions can be spoken into the button and repeated as often as necessary.

We can’t wait to add more STEM and math engagement in our classroom!
