Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will be teaching 25 curious and energetic Kindergarteners for the first time ever! Although I am nervous, I am extremely excited to create a classroom grounded in play-based learning to promote academic growth alongside having fun.
Kindergarteners are a unique group of learners and I aim to create a classroom where all kids can learn and grow!
Although I don't know my students personally yet, I do know that in Kindergarten my students will be learning and growing at an accelerated pace. I am so excited to help my students build those foundational skills through a variety of different experiences and modes.
My Project
I am a first-year teacher who has been hired to teach Kindergarten and I am so excited to be given this opportunity! As a first year teacher, I need help in creating a classroom full of resources that would directly benefit my students. I believe that play-based learning is so important in Kindergarten and I hope to foster that idea through the use of different STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities.
Kindergarteners are not too young to begin developing background knowledge in the fields of STEM!
By giving students blocks, magnets, tiles, bricks, play-doh​, etc. they are able to begin developing foundational academic skills while also nurturing their natural curiosity and sense of exploration.
