Because of you, my students now have the opportunity to engage in hands-on music-making in a way that is both meaningful and exciting. We have begun using the ukuleles as part of our weekly music lessons, where students are learning basic chords like C and F while practicing steady beat and rhythm patterns. One of my favorite moments so far was watching my students strum together for the first time as a class, it was such a joyful and proud experience for them, and for me.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the ukuleles, their reactions were priceless. There were gasps, huge smiles, and so many excited questions. Many of them had never held a real instrument before, and they were immediately eager to try. They handled the instruments with such care and curiosity, and you could truly feel the sense of excitement and ownership in the room. It created an instant boost in engagement and enthusiasm for learning music.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build our skills by learning new chords and beginning to play simple songs together. Our next step is to work toward small group performances, where students will collaborate and showcase what they have learned. We are also starting to incorporate singing while playing, which is a big and exciting challenge for them. Your generosity has opened the door to so many meaningful musical experiences, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunities you have given our students.","fullyFundedDate":1764621691314,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-music-ukuleles-for-k/9529543/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big Music: Ukuleles for K–3 Stars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Knight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10109380_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754196332097","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10109380"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54978","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":533,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":9,"percentAsian":16,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"24.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":95.1,"schoolId":54978,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oakhills Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oakhills Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/eureka-union-school-district/oakhills-elementary-school/54978"}
