Ms. Pace from Akron OH is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students continue with additional stem activities. The materials provided are incredible. I had no idea what an impact they would provide. The magformers were a big hit especially.

Our school is in Ohio. We service many children from low-income families who are on free and reduced-price lunch. We have a brand new school building, which is very exciting. The school has many technologically advanced conveniences and resources to support our IB curriculum.
The majority of my students are from low-income households.
My students are experiencing a "Genius Hour" each week. During this time, they will have hands-on materials to manipulate. I am excited because the opportunity is a super way to springboard team building and cooperative learning. They learn that to accomplish the task, they have to get along. Many of them naturally develop the roles of the leader without being assigned. They also share what "job" in the task they feel they would be most beneficial to the group.
We have received new stem materials which have "springboarded" other classrooms to likewise consider these materials. After observing the students working, I have learned which of the stem sets are not large enough (meaning there are limited pcs). I would like to order a few more sets of a few of the stem sets to best meet the needs of the students.
We received a large shipment of stem activities. Our gifted and talented teacher also submitted a Donor's Choose request to choose ones that she liked. I allowed my students to work with the materials after a week of testing. The results were incredible. 2 boys who had not gotten along for the school year were designing incredible structures.
I also learned which ones the students gravitated towards.
I have the Magna- tiles from last year, which are also great, but these allow students to see inside of the geometric structure to identify the 3-dimensional shapes they created easier. We are going to set up a cart. I purchased tubs which I am eagerly labeling. I also grabbed 2 boot mats so that the magnetic balls do not roll all over the floor (as was the issue this week).
So excited, so encouraged, so thankful for Donor's Choose. These items will encourage higher-level thinking skills at our school for many years.
