Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful students are first graders at an International Baccalaureate school. They are inquisitive kiddos who like to learn with hands-on materials! As we work on becoming problem solvers and creative thinkers, we need access to engaging materials to help us stay engaged and build our brains.
My students love to work with their hands and create things that will enhance their problem solving skills.
Our goal is to create 21st century learners that are problem solvers and creative thinkers.
My Project
1st graders need some room to build, create, and play with materials. They need time to converse with others and make a plan to create something, and collaborate with each other. Building those times of play out in our schedule is often difficult. Morning tubs to the rescue! Students will have a chance to work with a rotating list of materials to play with and manipulate.
Morning tubs will give my students a chance to get their brains going as they manipulate materials and get creative.
With your generous donations, students will be able to use different materials like Magnatiles, Brain Flakes, Tinker Toys, and geoboards for open-ended play. They will get energized for the rest of the day. They will work with each other to create. By giving them a designated time to play with materials will also cut out distractions for other parts of the day when I want students to use materials in a very specific way.
