Mr. Herrera from Baltimore MD is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 3 labquest equipment units to support the STEM lessons that will give them the opportunity to use technology in their science investigation.

The world is constantly changing, and as we get closer to the 21st century, the more competitive and challenging it becomes. With this in mind, there is a need to prepare our students to become 21st century learners.
Our school is one of the city schools in Maryland.
Although we are in the heart of the city, our school is not technology-advanced in terms of science equipment, specifically in data collection. My students love conducting science investigations, they enjoy learning science through hands-on and by exploring their environment. I have observed in them that the more they are exposed to new lab equipment and materials, the more they are motivated and excited to conduct the lab investigation. These students respond positively and have that innate curiosity to learn and discover the world around them. I have seen their potential to grow and expand their knowledge inside the classroom and in the field exploration.
The labquest units I am requesting will comprise the technology piece of their science investigation. With these units students will be given opportunities to be involved in authentic science investigation. The equipment will be useful in their data collection and analysis. The labquest units are important instruments in performing science research projects inside the classroom and in the field study. These are important tools in preparing students become 21st century learners, globally competitive and ready to face the challenges this fast-changing world brings.
This project is important in preparing students to become 21st century learners and in motivating them to become interested in the STEM careers.
Making science lessons in high school more interesting, engaging, and stimulating does not only improve test scores but it also brings students closer to STEM fields. STEM is something that students should not be afraid of; they should see it as a fun thing to do. They should see STEM as avenues for them to use their talents in improving our world.
