Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students don't get the same access to adequate lab supplies and science resources as students from other schools. A lot of the equipment is outdated and broken. Everyday, I see a passion for science in my students, but they want to learn by doing.
I know that my students would love to have materials so they can actually do science.
Many of them have gone their entire school career without ever doing a lab. In order for my students to be successful in college, they need to have experience with lab work.
My Project
This lab equipment will help to engage my student and invest in them a love of science. There are so many valuable careers which rely on a strong science background. I want to show my students how the material they are learning in class relates to their everyday lives. Students want to know why the material they are learning in class matters. I am constantly asked questions such as: why do I need to know this? When will I ever use this in the real world? I can tell my students how and why, but these labs will show them how and why. These kits make learning chemistry exciting!
