Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
M. High School students exemplify the future of the new American dream. Their generation is one that is privileged by the blessing of the information technology yet cursed by the social-economic obstacles associated with poverty. Although the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education declared the unconstitutionality of separate but equal, the inequality of funding in schools is alive and well in the south.
The M.
High School STEM Academy lab is the place where educational equalization will be leveled. Students will learn through hands on activities about critical problem solving and development of STEM capstone projects. The lab will give the students the space and materials necessary to build, design, and create STEM related projects.
My Project
Currently there is no lab available for our high school's STEM Academy. Students do not have a place to work on their capstone projects that are required as a senior project. The lab workbenches will allow students to work on building their project in an appropriate setting that will be safe and inspire creativity. The lab workbenches will be used instead of desk to work on their projects. This will allow students to place materials together and properly set up their products to appropriately and safely make modifications and alterations.
The current classrooms at our high school are used for multiple classes; subsequently they are not conducive for working on ongoing STEM projects.
A dedicated lab area allows students to work on their projects without the worry of their projects being altered throughout the course of the day. We are respectfully requesting 5 workbenches for the lab.
