Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help our Bronx mathematicians turn math into motion! With motion, force, light, and angle sensors, coding kits, and augmented-reality cubes, students will design experiments, collect real-time data, and model how equations describe the world around them. Using Chromebooks and iPads, they’ll merge math, science, and engineering to explore the geometry of bridges, the physics of motion, and the data behind light and energy.

All three math courses, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2, will benefit from this Connected STEM Innovation Lab.

Each grade will experience a customized version of the project that builds on their current math level: Algebra 1 students will analyze patterns and linear relationships, Geometry students will design and test structures, and Algebra 2 students will explore motion and trigonometric models. Every student will participate in this project for three consecutive years, with the level of challenge, coding, and exploration growing as their mathematical understanding deepens.

In our Connected STEM Innovation Lab, students will build, code, and test their ideas like real engineers—developing teamwork, design thinking, and data-analysis skills that prepare them for future STEM careers.

When students can measure, build, and see math unfold, learning becomes unforgettable. This project transforms our classroom into a living lab of curiosity and creativity—proving that the next generation of innovators, architects, and data scientists can begin right here in the Bronx.
