Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a small school located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. All the teachers and administration care deeply for our children, and try to provide the best learning environment for them. Next year I am piloting the 4th grade gifted and talented class. My classroom does not yet exist, and I really need lots of supplies to make it a place the kids want to be!
My students are smart and curious, and their potential is endless with the proper tools and supports.
With a funded project from DonorsChoose, I will be able to create a warm, comfortable, and appropriate setting where all children can reach their full potential.
My Project
My students need materials that are exciting and age appropriate. This year we are emphasizing STEM by creating a Maker Space in our classroom. In addition, we will be adding Technology (including coding) into all aspects of our learning.
With this STEM kit, paper, and pencils my students will be able to explore, investigate and innovate.
The places my students can go are limitless with the proper support and materials. I hope that this early exposure will create a deep desire to explore the field in high school and college.
Students are just starting to return from the summer. Help me show them that learning can be fun too!
