My students need Legos, pipe cleaners, straws, plastic cups, glue sticks, snowflakes, blocks, magnetic tiles, craft sticks, spinning gears, coffee filters, velcro dots, engineering blocks and stars, twine, K'NEX and storage bins for STEM activities.
Our school serves students in grades K-6 and encourages each and every individual to be the best they can be! In our close-knit community, students take part in many events that help guide these young learners to become successful adults. Even though the community works hard to guide their children to become successful, they often have to overcome obstacles that most children do not. My fourth graders are in a 12:1:1 special class setting and have a variety of learning styles and needs. I am hopeful that these students will get the support they need to succeed!
My Project
STEM-based activities, guide students to work with their peers while learning a new task related to the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In this project, I am requesting a number of items that are specifically for building (blocks, Lego's, K'NEX, snowflake shapes) as well as a number of materials that require students to use their creative minds (straws, string, craft sticks, velcro).
Students, especially those with sensory and fine motor needs benefit from STEM related projects.
STEM is something that I enjoy teaching as an educator. Students learn so many different things through STEM based projects. This year, I plan to designate a day for cooperative, creative, and engineering based instruction.
