STEM In The Classroom- Growing Flowers

Help me give my students the ability to practice science in growing plants.

My Project

We are wanting to add a growing station in our classroom. This will allow the students to plant, water and watch our Sunflowers grow. This will meet a goal of mine incorporating more STEM projects in the classroom this year.

One goal of growing plants is learning about the different soil types and how it affects the way plants grow.

We can also ask ourselves the questions. What soil is best for seeds? How do seeds grow? Can seeds grow in sand? Does the type of soil affect how fast a seed grows?

We can also learn about photosynthesis and how the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a byproduct.

My students are special because they are so curious about learning. I want to give them every opportunity to dive in to education and want to know more.
