I absolutely love how curious, creative, and determined my second-grade students are. They light up when they're given the chance to build, explore, and test ideas with their own hands. Even when something doesn’t work the first time, they keep trying—asking questions, collaborating, and using what they’ve learned to make improvements. Their excitement when they see a marble successfully complete a maze they built themselves is priceless and shows just how powerful hands-on learning can be.
This STEM project gives my students a chance to practice real-world problem-solving in a fun and engaging way.
The marble maze activity helps them understand concepts like gravity, motion, and cause-and-effect while encouraging them to think critically about how to design and improve their creations. The Beblox building blocks allow them to bring their ideas to life, experimenting with structure, height, and pathways—all while developing spatial awareness and engineering skills.
Each resource—whether it’s a simple marble or a stack of blocks—plays a key role in helping them become confident learners who aren't afraid to take risks and learn from mistakes. It’s more than a project—it’s a joyful learning experience that builds persistence, teamwork, and a love for discovery.
