Help me give my students a Coding Express, Math Marks the Spot, Coding Accessories to teach STEM in a fun, hands-on way. They also need a Book case to hold their STEM books and activities.
I have 32 students in my first-grade classroom that need hands-on materials to learn science, technology, engineering, and math. The school is new this year and supplies are limited. My students are starting at this new school this year. They are coming from three different schools that were overcrowded. The community is growing fast and is a young neighborhood with many children in K-3. There is a mix of backgrounds including low income, middle class, and upper class. Most come from single family homes, but there are a few that live with extended family.
My students need hands-on STEM materials that will spark the interest of all of my students.
Having a variety of STEM materials that can be integrated into all aspects of the core curriculum shows my students that STEM is useful, easy, and a fun way to learn. Creating a maker station in the classroom will show the students and parents how important I think STEM is in the class.
My Project
I believe that my students need hands-on STEM activities and materials to learn in a fun, motivating way. 1st graders love games and love to learn through play. I hope to create a fun maker space area in the classroom that will promote STEM.
If education can be fun and engaging, more learning will take place in the classroom.
The Coding Express will teach the students engineering and technology skills by using Legos. They will learn coding skills using the Botley accessories that go with the Botley we already have in our classroom. They wil also learn math using the Math Floor activity kit. The Book Shelf will house the STEM books and activities in a maker space in our classroom. The students will have daily access to the materials and STEM games and resources.
