My Students
I teach a magnificent and advanced group of at-risk students (95% receive free or reduced-price lunch). My students are pre-AP, Medical Magnet and/or GT students who have not been exposed to all that technology has to offer. With most of my students interested in STEM and careers in STEM, we need more technology to keep us up with the times.
The students want to be able to compete in a global society but don't have the means.
Virtual Labs, research, STEM projects are just a few things they are interested in doing. As a school that was affected by Harvey, my students are in need of more technology in the school as their parents focus on rebuilding their school life.
My Project
I teach a magnificent group of students who are labeled as At-Risk or Low-Income,and have been affected by Hurricane Harvey in some way. These students come to class everyday and prove that they want to learn and work hard. Unfortunately most of them lack or have not fully developed certain life skills that will help them succeed in todays world.
Being able to critically think is a skill that is learned and should be continuously developed.
My students need to have tangible items that can challenge them while enhance their creative brains. The legos also align to specific TEKs that the students will need for state testing.
We have also receive iPads and are eager to use them for labs and brain teasers, but we need cases to protect.
