My Students

My students walk into my classroom every day ready to learn and are excited about school! I am constantly amazed, with all the challenges presented to these students each day. I greet each and every one of them at the door with a hug and a smile, addressing each by name. The smiles and stories they share in return let me know just how excited they are to be at school. I love these students and their ability to always question and explore. This classroom of students has a variety of unique learning styles and abilities. They love engaging and hands on activities. They flourish in an environment where they can think critically and creatively.

These beautiful little people come to school every day ready to learn but need a safe, hazard-free classroom environment and tools and materials to help that happen.

They love to ask questions and dig deeper into learning.

They are problem solvers. They are a special class because they are always asking for more challenging work and different ways to use their amazing brains. They are always willing to help and love to please. These students are our future, and I want them to be successful.

My Project

My students are STEM learners! As I have attempted to move toward STEM learning and teaching, I want to include literacy opportunities for each of them to understand and build background on jobs that highlight Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology. Because our population of students in our school is so diverse, we serve a large number of children who do not typically experience STEM opportunities. I would like to change this. We want all students to have 21st Century Learning opportunities

These books will serve as a springboard to learning in my classroom while providing my students with important information about STEM.

They will fill classroom shelves and stir imagination, creativity, and dreams of the future. What more can we ask? How can we not provide such needed material for these well deserving children?

The books that I purchase highlight women in STEM careers. The books will not only help boost student reading skills, but will provide insight into and models of STEM careers. The books are short picture book biographies, so that they will be engaging students can read them in one sitting.
