This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a great group of students this year despite the impacts of COVID and their personal environment. Many students walk to school because their parent/guardian do not have reliable transportation. Saying this, many walk alone through drug infested and crime ridden streets during early morning. Those that are dropped off, often arrive late because their transportation makes multiple stops prior to arriving at the ninth grade academy. Despite their challenges before and after school, many arrive eager to learn with hope that their education will change their circumstances forever.
My students come with unique qualities and talents that can only be found in Trenton; which is attributed to their desire and drive to change their environment through education.
My Project
The isometric paper and architecture set will allow students to experience hands-on projects such as creating blueprints/engineering/architectural plans. The students will use their drawings and plans to build life sized bird houses, small scale homes, and more as their knowledge progresses. In turn, students will be able to use the camera and other materials to demonstrate/display their project(s) to peers, parents, and administrators. The earphones will be used to help students complete computer based assignments. Most tools and materials will be used on school premises-in and outside of the classroom. These students are OSHA-10 certified meaning they are aware of safety requirements. The materials will help to keep the students in compliance with OSHA standards. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement!
