My students need basic LEGO machine sets to build the groundwork for STEM creativity.
This project expired on December 14, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from a low-income urban setting. My classroom works to support and educate students with behavioral difficulties. They have not found success with the traditional classroom and struggle with social skills which has impeded their learning progress.
My goal is to help them find success in the academic setting so they will embrace the learning process.
When they find something positive that they can be successful at then we can work on presenting that with the socialization skills.
We are a new building with an emphasis on Inquiry Based Learning. My students are in my room because they have not found success in the typical classroom and struggle with the learning process as well as social skills. Basic Lego kits and simple machine kits are something that my students will find engaging without realizing that they are contributing to their growth mindset
Basic LEGO blocks are already a hit in my classroom and the simple machines kits will take this to a new level.
In the future I would like to see my students work on programming skills with the more extensive LEGO kits but for now, I need to give them a basic introduction to machine building and expand their creativity.
