Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing kids who love being in school every day learning new things. Our school has a very high poverty rate, and yet the students are motivated to go to school daily for many reasons. Every time they learn something new they want to share with everyone and that makes each one of them special. They don't take their education for granted but rather are very thankful for everyone and everything they have and learn while they are in school.
My Project
By utilizing the many different STEM materials, my students will be able to create and build different models using their imagination. First grade students are much like sponges, who absorb all new learning. Allowing them to discover and build gives them the opportunity to think outside the box and provides them with the chance to show their talents and different ways of thinking.
All the materials will be used to promote student thinking and allow them to work collaboratively as well.
The Brain Flakes will allow students to work together to build new models. The Build a Dinosaur Toy also allow students to put together parts to make a whole model. Giving students time out of the day to think and build has a great impact on their learning.
