Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing individuals who truly inspire me. Despite the daily struggles they face, they always have the most positive, lively attitudes. They bring a smile to my face every single day. I work in a Title I school where we have high percentages of children from severely low-income families. We struggle every day to help students meet their full potential because they come to school hungry, cold, sleep-deprived, unwanted, abused, etc. They deserve the opportunity to succeed on a daily basis. They deserve the resources to be the best possible individual and citizen.

My Project

STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. Individuals who graduate with a STEM degree have a higher income even in non-STEM careers. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics employees play an important role in the continuous growth and steadiness of the U.S. economy, and are a vital component to helping the U.S. succeed in the future.

Scientific and technological advances have become progressively important as we face the benefits and trials of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy.

To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to cultivate their skills in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past. In addition, STEM education helps us fill the ethnic and gender gap found in science and math.

I want all of my students to have the opportunity to become what they are capable of becoming. I want them to have the resources that will help them become innovative, creative, critical thinkers. With STEM as part of their education, students will be able to learn skills that will make them indispensable in the future. Every single student deserves to be marketable in the future in order to acquire any job of their choosing. With STEM in the classroom, this goal will be more attainable.
