Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students have bright futures and I want them to believe that they can be or do anything. I am building a STEM program where students can become future physicists, nuclear engineers, chemists, forensic scientists, doctors, and astronomers.
My students are brilliant, highly motivated, and interested in learning.
We are a Title I school in South Phoenix. Many of our students are foster kids removed from their families. We also have a high population of students that are minorities. This will give them their own challenge through life, so as their teacher I want to make their learning and schooling as easy as possible. Our students are ready to learn in our new STEM program but we need supplies to help with this learning.
I do not only want our students to be successful, I want them to love Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The possibilities that they can do in their future are endless with the skills they can gain in my STEM classes.
My Project
Here are some of the main ways 3D printing will improve learning in my STEM classroom:
– It will teach students about 3D printing, how 3D printing technology works, and its applications in real-world scenarios.
– Using drag-and-drop CAD programs, students can create and design simple machines by assembling the parts. Students can bring these concepts to life by 3D printing them. In this way, 3D printing provides an excellent foundation for future engineering work.
– Building prototypes to encourage creativity and critical thinking.
– Enable students to use CAD software to solve problems and 3D print prototypes of their models.
– Teaching complex geometry concepts with 3D printing visualizations, which help spatial imagination.
In summary, embedding 3D printing in STEM and STEAM learning encourages the critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills needed for future workforces to thrive in these crucial STEM/STEAM disciplines.
