My class is a fifth grade group of amazing children in a Title I school in Boise. I have a mix of learners, including students on IEPs, English language learners and students with behavior plans. These are students in their final year of elementary school who are ready to jump into the crazy world of middle school and beyond.
These students often have hard home lives or inconsistent routines.
This year has not made it easier with the difficulties of COVID and the changes in the school's schedule, plus unending changes with mask mandates and social distancing protocols.
My students are focused on their learning and forming a growth mindset to reach their goals, academic and otherwise. My students have formed their own goals and are willing and able to reach them. I'm excited to see this happen for them!
These supplies will help ready the incoming fifth graders for a focused year of learning.
My Project
The supplies asked for will make learning more visible in the classroom. Easel paper is used to make engaging, resourceful anchor charts to make lessons longer lasting and more memorable. The post-its will be used for students to create exit tickets and examples for the before-mentioned anchor charts. The magnets will be to help hang anchor charts and student work.
Since we are all about making learning visible, the charts made with these supplies will show students exactly what they are expected to learn.
Anxiety is reduced when students can see and know expectations ahead of time. In addition, my students are always lacking washable markers. This staple for elementary education is a must for the classroom for various projects, posters, and examples..
