My Project

This project is to provide steel drum instruments made for elementary age children an exciting new way for students Kindergarten through 5th grade to learn about reading music, improvisation, and many elements of music theory to include composing and orchestration for upper grades.

They will also learn about the cultures and history of the Caribbean and how steel drum development and manufacturing has impacted West Virginia through WV music hall of fame inductee Ellie Mannette.

He was the first person to use a discarded oil drum to make a steel pan.
