Steaming Ahead With an Engaging Science Classroom Library!
My students need access to a variety of Science and Social Studies texts that will encourage them to consider careers and opportunities in STEAM areas.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love working with my energetic, eager, critical thinking middle school students! My students read at a variety of levels and enjoy reading high interest, fiction and informational text. One of the things I love most about my students is that no matter what their reading ability all students enjoy learning new things! One thing that makes my students special is that most of the students do not live in the local school community. This provides a unique opportunity for students from all over the city to work, learn and grow together.
My Project
This year I am responsible for teaching three separate classes of sixth graders Science and Social Studies. I am excited about this opportunity! Unfortunately I have a limited number of books in my class collection.
I would like to create a high interest book collection that will be engaging for my students.
This project will allow my students to gain new knowledge about conservation, STEM books, and a variety of Science topics! These books will be used to support grade level expectations in Science and Social Studies, in addition to opening their eyes to possible career opportunities in the future.
